🔥Shibboleth is a Hebrew word that means "ear of corn" or "flood." It signifies a river or stream: "Ask leave to go over Shibboleth, the river." The word was used as a password — a means to figure out who was part of the group and who was not. Wisdom demands litmus test for confirmation. 

🔥The Gileadites, who perhaps were better acquainted with the routes of Jordan than the Ephraimites, secured them with strong guards, who were ordered to slay every Ephraimite that offered to pass the river.

🔥Ephraimites spoke the same language with other Israelites, but they deviated in dialect to pronounce the Hebrew letter Shin as Samech. They became so addicted that they could not help themselves at this time to even save their own lives. 

🔥If a man suspected to be an Ephraimites was caught and denied his root, they'll ask him to say Shibboleth but he couldn't pronounce it aright, instead he said Sibboleth, immediately they knew he is an Ephraimite, and the person was slain. 

🔥A tribe can easily be discovered, identified or exposed through speech and pronunciation. What are you imitating? Do you use [s] for [sh], because it is shorter or finer? Have you children learnt that also? Thou art a Galilean, and thy speech betrays thee. Do you look down on other people's tribe or tongue? Are you pompous about your dialect? Do you hate other men's spoken language? Do you detest a particular race?

✅These people were proud of the honour of their tribe/language/mother tongue, they gloried themselves in it, that they were Ephraimites but immediately, they were brought to shame and became afraid to publicly declare their country! Art thou an Ephraimite? No.

✅They passed through Jordan in rage to burn Jephthah's house with fire, they tried returning sneakingly as they had passed through furiously, and karma met with them and couldn't return to their own houses forever. 

✅They thought they know everything but they couldn't pronounce, Shibboleth. 

✅ They called the Gileadites, unjustly, fugitives, and now in reality they became fugitives themselves. He that rolls the stone of reproach unjustly upon another, let him expect that it will justly return upon himself. Forsake not your own dialect and always respect other people's race! There is no best tribe in God's sight.
